X-ray of a Child's Hand and Wrist

One of the two bones of the forearm - it lies on the side of the thumb. Note the epiphysis at the top of the bone. A cartilagenous epiphyseal plate lies in the slight gap between the radial epiphysis, and underlying diaphysis. The bone elongates at these plates during growth.

The radiocarpal joint consists of the radius and its articulation with three carpal bones - the scaphoid, lunate and triquetral bones.
