Subject: Baldness in women

I did a report on the 'Huterites' and I found out that the 

women often went bald because they always cover their heads 

so the lack of oxygen makes them go bald.  I have a friend

with very thick hair.  How come the bottom layer of her hair

doesn't fall out?
