Message:
Is there any connection between the brain and the production
of erythropoietin? I understand that as the number of red
blood cells falls, the decrease in oxygen causes the kidney
cells to secrete this hormone, but I wonder if there is any
influence from hormones secreted in the brain on the pro-
duction of erythropoietin. Any information on exactly what
causes erythropoietin to be released would be helpful.
Thank-you.
