Hi Kristy,

The needs of a whale shark in captivity are not completely known. They would need a large area for movement and clean sea water. They grow to about 45 feet as an average adult. Their size at birth is not known.

Their diet consists of plankton and small fish. It eats about 20-40% of its weight /day (this is not completely known either). They live in all tropical oceans and range as far north as Long Island, New York. This offshore species is the largest living fish known to man.
