What would happen if a cosmic string collided with a black hole?
I have read that cosmic strings (if they exist) can only consist of closed loops,
and that they can have no ends.
Also some strings can loop around the whole universe
If one of these intersected with a black hole, surely the singularity would then constitute
an end to the string?
