Terry, Configuring a small LAN is a fairly easy task, and the cost of hardware and software varies with the number of computers connected. With respect to hardware, I'd recommend using "10BaseT", which is similar to telephone wiring. With this method, each computer connects to a central "hub" in a star configuration. A 10 port hub should cost around $150, and each network card should be about $25. I'd also recommend using "peer-to-peer" networking software, which allows disk, printer and modem sharing. I think Artisoft's Lantastic would be a good choice for a school, with a 10 user license costing around $500. I hope this helps, and have a great day! Keith Little gklittle@sprintmail.com
