Subject: What are the effects of temperature on seeds befor germination? Age?

What are the effects of temperature on seeds befor germination? Age? 
I'm doing a project/report for school in my Biology honors class.  
The project concerns the effects of changes in temperature to seeds 
before they germinate.  Along with the temperature aspect, we will
also try to decide the effects of age on seeds and germination.  Any
info you can give us would be really great, I'd like to know more 
with this topic so as to know what to expect and how to better go 
about conducting the experiments.  I think this site is a great tool 
and one of the reasons the internet is so useful. Thanks...
