I'm puzzled as to why mercury (At no 80) should have such a low mp of
-39 deg C, when gold (At no 79) has a high mp of 1063 deg C and thalium
(At no 81) has a mp of 303 deg C. Cadmium, directly above mercury in the
periodic table melts at 321 deg C.
