Tornados have been measured as spinning as fast at 287 mph. Scientists think that they can spin as fast as 320 mph. Tornados are caused by Thunderstorms with strong, rotating updrafts of air. These updrafts of air bring warm, moist air into the thunderstorm, and if it has some rotation, and wind conditions are just right around the thunderstorm, a tornado will form. Look at the following link for more information on tornados in the U.S. As for Australian tornados, you do get them! They aren't very common, but theyr'e there! Follow this link for some pictures of australian tornados!
