Stephanie,
Organells are controlled by chemical signals that
are sent via hormones. The hormones are sent by
the brain, and can be triggered by many
environmental effects. Hormones interact with
the cell surfaces, and they send second
messengers to the organells so that they can do
their particular function. I don't really think
anything can be classified as a miniature cell.
