The largest rainforest in the world is in the Amazon basin in South America. My copy of EncartaTM says that the Amazon drains some six million square miles, most of which is rainforest.

Tropical rainforests are also found in central Africa, central America and southern Asia. But let's not forget the temperate rainforests. These used to be found in areas of central Europe (now mostly replaced with cultivated parklands), but another huge stretch of rainforest stretches from northern California to southern Alaska, along the west coast of North America.
