I have recently harvested a good amount of maple sap and am in the process of boiling it down. All the resources that I have looked into have told me that it should take about 3-4 hours untill complete reduction. Despite the constant boiling, it has been taking me much longer to reduce than I would like(5-6 hours) and was wondering if there was anything that could be done to speed up the process. Is there anything that I could add to the boil that would not effect the flavor? My elevation is only a hundred feet or so above sea-level. PLEASE HELP ME! My mother is getting rather upset at my constant use of the stove and I fear for my freedom. (I guess some people just don't realize the true virtue of real maple syrup.)
