Because this is a riddle, rather than a scientific question, I should not
give you and everyone who reads the Mad Scientist pages the answer. But
there are three other things I can do:

(1) clear up a slight error
(2) give a clue
(3) ask another riddle that works nearly the same way, but not quite.

(1) Either you or the teacher has got it just slightly wrong. There is no
chemical EQUATION represented by the letter sequence HIJKLMNO. The question
should be 'What chemical FORMULA is represented by HIJKLMNO ?'

(2) The clue comes here. It might be a giveaway, so anyone who does not
want the clue had better look away! How would you say 'HIJKLMNO' in a
shorter way?

(3) If you made a molecule from one atom of cobalt and 2 atoms of calcium,
what sort of a bird would you have?

John
