A negative ion generator is an electrostatic air cleaner that sprays a continuous fountain of negatively charged ions into the air. Some researchers claim that these ions cause a feeling of well being, increased stamina and relief from headaches, allergies and asthma.

Reference: Handy Science Reference Book; Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh,1994

Molds have been known to complicate asthma, and many people are allergic to these organisms and their spores. An effective air cleaner that reduces the amount of mold in a home could then conceivably help such patients.

Admin note:

The ability of ionizers to remove "germs" and pollutants from the air is well established, however the direct effect of anions (negative ions) on animals is still questionable at best.
