Crystals are used in electronics to produce precise vibrations. They are often the basis for electronic clocks. Crystals of different compounds are used in certain optical instruments because they allow certain wavelength of light to pass that glass does not. Some crystals are stronger than metals (diamonds for instance). Ruby crystals were used in the first lasers.

When I first read your question, I thought you were asking about the unscientific claims concerning crystals' powers promoted by the so-called New Age proponents. Then I realized that no scientific-minded person would ask us Mad Scientists to stray from the true path of careful critical investigation of the wonders of nature. But just in case that was your intent, these witches (practitioners of Wicca) want you to BELIEVE.^
