Subject: testing amounts of sugar in sweets

dear sir or madam, i would like to know how do i go about testing the 
amounts of sugar in different types of sweets. My suggestion is to 
dissolve the sweets in water and then evaporate the sugar solution to 
find out the amount of sugar in the sweets. i would like to know if 
there are any better methods or if you think my method will work.
