For the month of January in Phoenix, AZ the published sunrise and sunset times 
revealed that almost twice the daylight would be gained in the evening versus 
the morning.  The monthly table in the Arizona Republic also showed that the 
amount of change each day is far from being linear throughout the month.  there 
must be a simple explanation for this but we have searched everywhere and can't 
find the answer.
