Laura,

I am far form being an expert in the area of chemiluminescence and have
only very general knowledge of the process whereby chemical energy is
converted directly to light energy without producing a flame. I have found
a web site however, that explains the theory quite well. I hope this helps
you out. The site incudes both an explanation section and a section with
pertinent links. The site can be found at:

http://www.omniglow.com/chemilum.html

						Good luck,
								John.
