How would an amateur astronomer witha cheap telescope measure apparent magnitude? And real
magnitude?
A related question: Are mass-luminosity and distance-luminosity relations
theoretical relations predicted by theory or empirically observed relations.
If the latter, how accurate are they to calculate distances to faraway objects, say
in other galaxies?
Thanks
Ashok
