MadSci Network: Other |
It is hard to know without knowing what you are like. Do you like asking questions and solving puzzles? Do you like keeping careful track of your efforts to understand problems? Do you like working with other scientists? At the undergraduate level, the best way of finding out if a scientific career is for you is to do some real science. Get into a lab, even if you have to volunteer. Find out how slow it can be, how frustrating, how interesting and how finally rewarding the entire scientific process can be. There are so many different types of science underway, that I think an experimental approach to this question is definitely called for. Just do it. David Winsemius, MD
