The vast majority of biologists and biological anthropologists no longer 
believe in the biological division of the human species into "races."  
However, I believe that there are "folk races," in other words, so-called 
races based on cultural constructs.  For the best books in lay terms I 
suggest first Stephen Jay Gould's "The Mismeasure of Man."  Also you may 
want to look at Ashley Montague's books "Man's Most Dangerous Myth: The 
Fallacy of Race" and "Race, Science and Humanity."
