Aaron- Good Question
Roughage is fiber. The recommended daily amount of fiber is approximately
25 gms a day. For us here in America we don't do very well with our fiber
intake. Fiber is found in higher amounts in whole grain breads and
cereals, fruits and vegetables have fiber also. We do know that diets high
in fiber help with diabetic control, atherosclerosis, and also may help
prevent some cancers. You need fiber for your bowels to work well. So
overall, fiber is a necessary component of our diet for good nutrition and
digestion.
