I have just got a chmeistry test today, and I am wondering why CCl4 is named as tetrachloromethane/carbon tetrachloride?? Why not call carbon (IV) chloride<-----accroding to stock system??When and in what circumstances will we name a compound like: CS2, why do we call it as carbon disulphide and not carbon sulphide? Thank you for your answer. P.S. this website can help a lot of people who have so many questions. Keep it up!!! Winnie Hauw
