Yes, of course it is possible to see the sun and the stars from the 
surface of the moon.
You can see the sun and several bright stars and planets at the same time 
since there is very very little atmosphere on the moon. Presence of dense 
atmosphere (like that on our earth) causes the sunlight to scatter hence 
making it difficult to see the stars.
There are many other interesting phenomena visible from the surface of 
the moon.
