The sources I found mentioned several methods of extracting copper from 
ore. I found the most information in a general encyclopedia. You might want 
to check your library for a science encyclopedia--most public and school 
libraries have one.

On the web, the best source I came across is

In particular, one of their sections
http://60centuries.copper.org/
is  a history of copper use over the centuries.

Another section
http://innovations.copper.org/mining01.html
gives information about changes in traditional copper mining techniques.

None of these give information as detailed as you requested.
