Message:
Wasp flies are a case of mimicry. How do they avoid recognition by
insect-feeding birds? One theory is that they only mature late in
summer after birds have nested and chicks have learned that anything
that looks like a wasp or bee stings. Is this true? How abundant are
wasp flies in the tropics? Are these rules also correct for other
cases of mimicry among insects?
Thanks in advance, Guni Kadmon
