Subject: Colored Dyes in markers or drink mixes

I am trying to perform an experiment to see what color dyes 
exists in markers and drink mixes thru paper chromotography. I 
have performed the experiment with little success.  The dye is 
running up the paper, but not seperating. I have tried many 
different things with no success, can you offer any suggestions 
on how to preform this experiment so the colors will seperate.
