Bubble gum is made of a masticating substance along with sugars, flavors, water and some other minor ingredients. The masticating substance has a property called visco-elasticity which means it can be stretched like spring also but flows like a thick liquid (ex. pizza dough). This is due to the molecular structure of the material. It is made up of big and long molecules which are entangled in each other. When you chew the bubble gum, the saliva gets in between these molecules which makes it easy for them slip by each other. Thus the bubble gum becomes more stretchable as you chew on it. -MVK
