Many folks remedies are or were supposed to increase life expectancy, or at
least reduce the mortality rate due to cardiovascular diseases. As an
example, whisky is supposed to reduce the incidence of myocardial
infarction because of a "vasodilatatory " action on coronary arteries (the
arteries wich bring blood to the heart muscle). Practically speaking, no
statistical effect on well-designed studies was found.
My opinion would be that gin has no proven direct effect, but I believe
that drinking on a very moderated basis gin, or any other acohol, is
helpful to relieve stress, and probably is a minor step in reducing
cardiovascular morbidity or mortality. But beware of excess!!.
