I have heard rumors that dimethyltryptamine (DMT) is endogenous
to the human brain. If, through some process, monoamine oxidase
(MAO) was inhibited during a "near death experience" could the
DMT be enabled to have hallucinegenic/pschyotomimetic
properties? If so, it would scientifically explain reports of
seeing bright lights and deceased loved ones from "near death
experience" survivors. I know that MAO inhibitors will enable
DMT to be orally active, whereas straight DMT will not
intoxicate the subject.
thanks,
Dave S.
