This is a puzzling question since as far as I know or can find out, there are no bright comets predicted to be visible in August or near the Earth. Perhaps there is some confusion with comet Williams discovered in August 1998. This Web site can tell you more about it. There are lots of good Web sites that can give you interesting information on comets, one is the Sky and Telescope comet Web page.

Another very interesting site is the STARDUST page which can tell you all about comets and the STARDUST mission launched 2 days ago to go to Comet Wild-2.

As for a meteorite travelling within the tail of a comet, that's really puzzling since it would be difficult to detect a meteorite (or more realistically asteroid) in the tail of the comet at the distance a comet would be at present. It might be possible to comment more coherently if a source for the information that led to the question could be quoted, since it sounds as if several topics are being confused.
