Dear Sir,

I heard from a friend saying that if you have a flourescent light 
switched on near a modem, it would interfere with the data 
transmission, by making the transfer slower. Note:  The modem is 
a standard modem. 

Is this possible?
If so, how does the light interfere the flow of electricity?
