Hi Charisse,

Your question is one of those simple questions with giant answers. Before I
give you my answer, I suggest that you send the question to the Mad
Scientist again, just in case someone has a better answer than mine. Just
rephrase the question so that it doesn't come back to me!

The answer I would give has to do with the fact that all the chemistry that
goes on in our bodies, from digesting our food to moving our muscles to
anything else you can think of involves chemical reactions based on water.
The reason is that life probably began in ancient oceans, as most of the
world was underwater back then. All the processes that go on in our body
must have developed to work in a watery world. Once we came onto land, our
bodies took the water with us. 75% of our body weight is water.

I hope this gives you what you need.

Jerry Eichler
