I a Grad student at the University of Windsor, Ontario, Canada.
I was recently helping a friend out with first year chemistry
(she was writing up the conclusions for an experiment regarding
the determination of the freezing point of a solution) and she
put forward a question regarding the supercooling phenomenon.
he asked "why does the organic compound solution cool to below
the freezing point (when cooled rapidly) without freezing and
then warm up to the freezing point before actually freezing ?"
I could not find the reply in any of the physical chemistry
books at the library. Could you please kindly answer the
question for me ?

Sajjad Mustafa.
