In cellular respiration, how does oxygen enable bacterial cells to release more chemical energy stored in glucose than baterial cells in the absense of oxygen?
We are both 9th graders at John F. Kennedy High School. We're taking molecular biology and have been doing a unit of study on photosynthesis. More recently though, we have been studying cellular respiration. We know from our books that oxygen enables bacterial cells to release more oxygen from glucose but the book doesn't explain how this happens to be so. We'd like to know more on this subject because we'd like to know more beyond the information provided from our books and teacher. We appreciate tour taking the time to read this and hope you'll be able to answer our question. We'd love to get any responses. Thank you.
Sincerely, Jenna Fong and Peggy Wang
