Dear ?,
I'm not really an expert on this, but I know its an enormous field, with lots of research on how they are adapted to life at high pressure and very low temperatures in the deep sea. The fish perform such tricks as using 'anti-freeze molecules in their tissues to prevent ice from forming, while there is an extensive literature on microbes from 'extreme' environments - try the book 'Microbial life in extreme environments' by D. J. Kushner.
Web sites include Paul Yancey's deep sea page, search for 'deep sea' at this site, a talk about Adaptations to the deep sea and one about giant squid and octopuses. The Smithsonian Institution has an on-line exhibition about the oceans.
Or you could try this site if you are interested in becoming a marine biologist, while New Scientist magazine has an article about deep sea worms, the Scripps institution of Oceanography has information on the lights used by many deep sea organisms on their pages and the E-quarium is a nice site with some deep sea pages.
ENJOY!
Yours, James
