When attacked the mycoplasma turns into a spore;as such,it can
not be easily destroyed, but the immune system no longer 
perceives it as a threat. This would serve to explain how mino-
cycline can eliminate the symptoms of RA,and why the disease 
eventually returns when the antibiotic is discontued.
