If a person is positioned such that each of 3 or 4 persons can exert an upward
force on the person to be lifted, then each of them would only have to apply 1/4
or 1/3 of the total force necessary to overcome gravity. As an example, for a
person weighing 100 pounds, four people would only have to apply an upward force
of 25 pounds each. This is possible to do with just the fingers.
