There is much variation in the amount of and type of facial hairiness 
worldwide even between the sexes.  In fact, numerous scientists believe 
that these differences may be caused by sexual selection, in other words, 
those with more culturally favored types or quantities of facial hair may 
be more favored in the process of mating (and subsequently the alleles for 
such favored characteristics more often spread on to future generations.
