Hi. I do already know about the flame test but for my particular 
project this is not of much use.  The aim of my project is to 
identify 11 white powdery substances given to me by my teacher 
and identifying sodium would be of great help. The simpler, the 
better. I don't know if the answer to my question will come in 
time for me to use it but it's worth a try-- I would've aked 
sooner but I just stumbled on this site.  Thank you so much for 
your time and have fun replying to my question.
