Subject: What is a terrace?

For my science class, we were asked to 
explain the terms anticyline, syncline, 
terrace, and erosion. My science book 
provided the information on the other 
subjects but not on this one. I looked it up 
in the dictionary but the definintion did 
not contain enough information for me to 
fully understand how these are formed 
and why they are formed. Please help me.
