Beer has many calories. Many people who drink beer often consume too many
calories. Too many calories are stored in the body as fat. A favorite place
for the body to store fat is the abdominal area. So people who drink lots
of beer often develop a "beer belly" because the excess calories are being
stored as fat in the abdomen. A person can drink beer occassionally and not
get a "beer belly" if they drink beer in moderation, eat a well-balanced
diet that includes vegetables and fruit, and get adequate exercise.
