Hi Nathaiel,

First, it is not practically possible for the common man to modify the PC's circuits. Now, adding an additional processor to an existing motherboard (motherboard is the large circuit board in a PC that houses the processor, the memory and many other circuits) requires changing the whole layout of the motherboard which is impossible unless you happen to work as the design engineer in a company that makes motherboards. Its something like adding an aditional cylinder to your car's engine !

If you need the power of more than one processor, you will have to purchase a dual-processor motherboard or a Quad-processor motherboard. Also, the operating system that you use on a multiprocessor system should be able to handle more than one processor.

For example Windows95 and Windows98 support ony a single processor (even though you might be using a dual processor system). Windows NT supports multi-processor systems.

If your aim for using 3 processors on a 486 machine is to improve the processing speed then you might just as well try a processor upgrade or an overdrive processor instead.

Or, you can replace the motherboard with a dual processor motherboard (if you plan to use an operating system that suppots it). Increasing the system RAM (memory) too helps a lot in improving the performance.

I hope this answers your question.
Thank you, KAS.
