Hi:

I'd like to use room temperatured water, for the high and low temperature
will harm plants. The extrem temperature can hurt roots by denaturing
protein, changing structure of lipid, thus destroy the cell membrane, then
influence ability of absorbing nutrient. Long time's extrem temperatur
environment will lead to destroy of many cell organs such as chloroplast,
mitochondris, erc.

You can read relative materials about the effects of temperature on most of
general plant physiological books.
