Hi, Leonardo. To separate the starch component from the fibrous parts of the cassava tuber, there is a multi-step process. You probably know the steps involved but there is a good schematic illustrating this at www.cen.uiuc.edu/~speller/wetmilling/main2/washing1.html Dorr-Oliver Inc. is well known for liquid-solids separation equipment. Their headquarters are in Connecticut, USA but they also have a SA branch - Dorr-Oliver de Chile Ltda., Santiago, Tel 2-696 1935, FAX 2-671 7395. The Dorr-Oliver website is at www.iconn.net/oliver/ Here they go into the various centrifuges and screens available for starch extraction. Alfa-Laval is another international company, likely with a SA branch, that carries centrifuges. There are also companies that specialize in used, reconditioned centrifuges www.sepinc.com http://mall.sitesolutions.com/ I hope that this is enough information to get you on your way. Good luck in your processing, Leonardo. Carol Crouse The Food Chain Ltd. New Brunswick, Canada ccrouse@nbnet.nb.ca
