It is very unlikely that the dog food was tainted.

I worked in small animal practice for 10 years and did occasionally hear 
from people that thought their dog had been poisoned, when in fact, 
the animal became ill from a common virus, heart worm, or some other type 
of gastointestinal irritation i.e., changing dog foods, chewing up bones, 
getting into the garbage.

I would encourage you to call your local veterinarian and describe the 
symptoms and give a good case history on your dog.  They would be able to 
give you a better idea of what may have happened with that information.
