I was wondering if you could help me with some questions by giving some
chemical explanations referring to the polymers Polyethylene,
Polypropylene and PVC.

1. What is the explanation for the melting of the polymers when exposed to
heat generated by microwaves?

2. What determines the flexibility/elasticity of the polymers?

3. How do you explain why there is no reaction between Sodium Hydroxide
and the polymers?

4. What determines how hard a polymer is?

5. What determines whether a polymer is stain resistant or not?

It would be greatly appreciated if you could answer my questions.

Thank you
