Whenever you wonder where does something come from, in regards to an
animals physical features, just ask yourself, How does this thing benefit
the animal?
Think about where the animal came from originally, if it
is a domesticated animal like the dog. When dogs roamed the earth as wild
animals, they probably did a lot of traveling on hard ground. Their feet
are therefore hard so they could handle this without getting sore feet.
