I read an article recently in Popular Science about Deep Space 1 and was
in awe of the ion engine. Previously I never heard of it. I have since
done some independant research on the subject but would like to ask the
experts: is it feasible to create a device that generates enough power to
run an ion engine on the surface of Earth? Will we someday be able to fly
around in an ion-powered car?
