Dear Mr. Stirrat,

That was a very good observation that your daughter made. She was almost 
correct in her question.

If you look at the anteroposterior diameter of the orb (eyeball), it is:

17.5 mm at birth
20-21 mm at puberty
24 mm in the adult

So there is not much of a difference in size between the orb of a baby and 
that of an adult.
